Valley An elongated lowland between ranges of mountains, hills, or other uplands, often having a river or stream running along the bottom.

Hound A domestic dog of any of various breeds commonly used for hunting.  Further divided into "scent" hounds and "sight" hounds based upon their primary method of hunting.

Association An organized body of people who have an interest, activity, or purpose in common; a society.

When we started looking for a name for our brand new "Hound Group" club, there it was.  The Cuyahoga River is a very unique geographic formation.  The river has its headwaters in Geauga County just east of Cleveland, from there it meanders south and a bit west into Portage County, where it turns west into Summit County.  From there it turns back north and west into Cuyahoga County, where it empties into Lake Erie about 40 miles +/- from the headwaters.  The total length of the river is +/- 100 miles.

The object of the CVHA, which was founded in September of 2003 is:

(a) To further the advancement of all purebred Hounds.

(b) To do all in its power to protect and advance the interest of all breeds of purebred Hounds and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, and any other American Kennel Club events for which hounds are eligible.

(c) To conduct sanctioned matches, shows, obedience trials, and other American Kennel Club events for which hounds are eligible.

(d) To encourage sportsmanlike competition and frindships, and to assist in other activities which will further the advancement of the Club.
